Excellence Award For Virtual University

The OpenCourseware Consortium has conferred the 2012 Outstanding New site Award for OpenCourseWare Excellence upon the Virtual University of Pakistan. Only one institution or university in the world is given this honor annually, and this year the position at the top belongs to VU. The award is recognition of the University's untiring efforts in establishing world class open educational resources. By publishing its courses totally free of cost and complete with video lectures, assignments and solutions on its open courseware site (http://ocw.vu.edu.pk), VU has joined the ranks of other top universities of the world in the vanguard of the OER movement. The University is already offering its educational contents free of cost to students through its four free-to-air educational television channels and YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/VU). The 2012 Outstanding New Site Award for OpenCourseWare Excellence will be given to Virtual University in Cambridge, UK on April 16, 2012.
