QURANIC DIRECTIVES ON HAJJ PERFORMANCE:

Mr. Shahid: Thanks. In future please give Quranic references while writing. It is very absurd to say that a person who performs Hajj get all his sins wiped off as if he becomes a new born child. There is no such edict in Quran. Every one is accountable before Allah on Judgement Day and none has the right to allow Jannah except Allah. I worked in a corrupt organisation in Pakistan  and I have seen corrupt persons going to Hajj time and again to get their sins washed off. When they return they again start fresh corruption. Do you think this is allowed by Allah. No. Certainly not. Don't rely on weak Hadiths not in confirmity with the Quranic directives. Allah says that no body and not even our Prophet can change/amend the directives of Allah except projecting them ( 6 : 106 / 7 : 203 / 10 : 15 / 18 : 27 ). Hence we should all avoid any misguidance in this regard.

Also you forgot to mention that Hajj is FARZ/FARD once in a life time subject to affordablity (3 : 96-97 ) and there is no concept of a free Hajj or financed by somebody else or Hajj Badal for some one else dead or alive. Quran clearly say ' No bearer of any burden can bear the burden of another person'. (17 : 15 / 35 18 ). Further the Quran says 'Persons alive or dead are not equal and the dead lying in graves can listen nothing ( 35 : 22 ). Further Allah directs that ' The dead will only be awakened on Judgement Day ( Qiyamah ) and until then they will lie under BARZAQ ( barrier/veil) which prevents them from awakening ( 23 : 100 / 27 : 80 /30 : 52 ). But due to lack of Quranic knowledge we are made to beleive in weak and unauthentic Hadiths, sayings, tales and stories, traditions generally projected by our Maulvis/Imams of Masajids. To avoid misguidance, exploitation of Islam, deviations, excesses and over acting in religious matters and rituals etc. We should all read Quranic translation with explanations as Islam is a people's DEEN not theology alone and covers all aspects of life and pious living and performing good deeds with TAQWA and righteousness to achieve the blessings of Allah and Jannah. The Saudi Government is distributing free Quranic translations in different languages of the world to spread the message of Islam to save the Ajmi Muslims from Shirk, Bidah, Un Islamic customs and practices, falsehood, sins and evils, extremism, excesses in rituals, deviations and extremism, misguidance by Taghoots, Babas, Pirs etc.,

The Hajj of such person is acceptable to Allah who maintains TAQWA, piety, righteousness and perform good deeds and bow before Allah alone without any deviation and exploitation of Islam. Islam also prohibits excesses or over acting in religious matters and rituals due to misguidance ( 4 : 171 / 5 : 77 ). Hence instead of excessive  performance of Hajj, such persons should do some good deeds/welfare work and help the poor and needy particularly relatives  ( 2 : 148 / 35 : 32 ). Islam is an easy religion to follow with no compulsion or force ( 27 : 1 / 2 : 256 ). Thanks. Please pass on this message to others.

Aspects of Islamic Faith : Making sure of entering heaven

The pilgrimage season is fast approaching, and people are already starting to arrive in the Kingdom, intending to perform the pilgrimage. When it is time for the rituals to start, there will be around three million people gathered in Makkah and its vicinity, performing their pilgrimage and feeling extremely happy despite all the difficulties they encounter. The pilgrimage has never been free of difficulty, and it is unimaginable that it will ever be. The fact that such a large number of people gather in a very limited area, attending to certain duties that have to be performed at certain spots and within a short time range, is enough to present difficulties in abundance. The great majority of pilgrims cope with whatever difficulties they encounter without complaint. They realize that they are not on a holiday; rather, they are attending to a highly serious task.

God has made clear that pilgrims must observe a very high standard of good manners and self-restraint during the pilgrimage. He says: "Whoever undertakes the pilgrimage in those months shall, while on pilgrimage, abstain from lewdness, all wicked conduct and wrangling." (2:197) The Prophet (peace be upon him) echoes these instructions and highlights the great reward God promises for observing them. Abu Hurayrah quotes him as saying: "Whoever undertakes the pilgrimage for God's sake abstaining from lewdness and wicked conduct will be at the end of it free of sin like he was the day he was born." (Related by Al-Bukhari).

The Arabic word, rafath, used in both quotations from the Qur'an and the Hadith is often used as a more polite reference to sexual intercourse. During pilgrimage sexual intercourse with one's spouse is forbidden while one is in the state of consecration, or ihram. However, this word is rendered in translation as 'lewdness' because many scholars consider that, although the Qur'anic verse may refer to it, the Hadith appears to have a far more general import. Hence, the wider meaning of the word is adopted. Thus all lewdness, whether practical or verbal, must be avoided.

The Qur'anic verse and the Hadith make clear that a condition of the validity of the pilgrimage is that the pilgrim must refrain from all wicked conduct. This includes everything prohibited in Islam. A pilgrim takes his journey for God's sake, declaring his devotion and commitment to Him and making clear that he seeks His pleasure. The only way to earn God's pleasure is by obeying His orders and refraining from what He has forbidden. Hence, it is totally unacceptable and irresponsible to indulge in what God has forbidden. To do so is to contradict oneself at the very time when one is declaring one's obedience and dedication. That is a case where one's action refutes one's statement.

The third thing the Qur'anic verse prohibits during the pilgrimage is wrangling. One must not get involved in any futile argument or dispute over petty matters. This is something that Muslims should always avoid, but particularly so during the pilgrimage. Pilgrims must conduct themselves in an easy, accommodating and tolerant manner. They must always remember that they are undertaking a great act of worship, hoping to receive God's reward. Futile argument, wrangling and disputes do not fit with it. Hence, they must always be avoided.

What is the reward for heeding these instructions? The Prophet describes the reward in a graphic manner. The pilgrim who avoids all these completes his pilgrimage with all his sins erased. He wipes his slate clean of all sin. He is like a baby just born. Should he die, he will meet God with nothing to account for. There is, however, one exception: The rights of other people. If the pilgrim has wronged someone or unlawfully taken something that belongs to others, the only way to ensure forgiveness for such sins is to return what is due to those others, or get them to forgo what is due to them or to forgive past misdeeds. Alternatively, one must pray to God to satisfy them on one's behalf.
